In my late teens, I went through a cannabis smoking phase, as did most of my friends at the time. No one ever said anything bad about cannabis (quite the contrary), and I never gave any thought to any harm it might be doing to me. People would often compare it to cigarettes in a positive way, that it wasn't addictive etc.

At that point in my life ...[text shortened]... as to whether it is a risk worth taking. The same should apply to cannabis, and all other drugs.
Well put. I have no problem here but I hope you are not insinuating that everyone should be like you.

What about my attitude to drugs? Do you have a problem with me making an informed decision?

No untruth here.

I'm leaning towards thinking that perhaps "Christian ideas" may be hindering your quest for truth.
Sure thing. This is a topic which is prolly not set in stone.

Like me, everyone should be aware of the possible dangers of cannabis and be allowed to make an informed decision,..yes.

His position really is very bizarre, and completely untenable. No wonder he is reluctant to explain or put such an untenable belief under the microscope for closer scrutiny.

It can only be concluded that his stubborn ambiguity is the only way he can feel a sense of authority when speaking about the words of Jesus (while keeping his atheism in the closet).
