Knob, Query... Evolution vs God began Human life... Please expain your thoughts with respect to the fact that we have souls , feelings inherent in our minds ( you have them every moment of your existence) that address how we react to everyday situations, the feeling we get when we smell spring for the first time, the feeling deep in ourselves that spins a million miles an hour and continually reflects on our every life moment and how it realtes to everyother life moment and inturn helps us determine future actions and on and on and on. We, as humans ,possess a mind that is singular in nature cannot be replicated ( thus singular Knob) is unmateched in the evolutionary trail. Animals do not possess a soul . Animals do not possess what our being possesses. They don't. We are our own species. We are Humans. We are not evolved from any other type of lower life form and now we are us. No No No... A creator, call him/her God whatever you want.. A divine ,brilliant, mystical being not of this world created Human life. It has to be because frankly, there is no other logical explantation. It certainly isn't evolution. So ... again, since we are now at our 80th post and have gotten nowhere... Where are we from? Who created Human life?

Repeating it a number of times does not make it true. What is this 'soul' you speak of, and why do you believe you have one and an animal doesn't?

It has to be because frankly, there is no other logical explantation.
How is a divine creator a 'logical explanation'? It seems to me to be far more fanciful than several other alternatives eg evolution, aliens, we've always been here, etc. Certainly your specification that the creator must be not of this world seems purely arbitrary, or do you have good reason for such a criteria?

what traits does a soul have since you claim you are the only one having and a dolphin or a chimp doesn't? surely you can give a reason as to why you see a soul in yourself as opposed to your dog fido.

is it love? chimps, dolphins, cats love too. they care for their young. you may call it instinct but evolutionists call it a primitive form of love. chimp mothers will cling to their dead young refusing to let go. whales will support an injured whale to get to the surface to breath.

is it intelligence? there have been numerous accounts of animals exhibiting limited forms of intelligence, be it the ability to use tools or the ability to plan ahead and make cause and effect connections.

also there are other things to consider.
-will your dog who worships you and is a very nice person not be going to heaven?
-a severely retarded person that cannot even speak and is as smart as a dog, would that person be blinking out of existance? or do they get to go to heaven or hell because they have a human form?
-there are billions other stars out there, do you think none of them is home to a civilisation? and if so, will the aliens be having a soul? maybe they are sentient crystals, made from quartz and other minerals, do they have a soul?
-if we develop AI and an android reaches sentience to the point where he can feel, love, be afraid to die, will it have a soul even if we created it?

Animals have basic instincts.Oftentimes accelerated instincts to mimmick numerous human behaviors i.e. nurturing young, helping fellow animals to safety and on and on through their beautiful life will the animal kingdom display/exhibit many traits that make us humans compelled to enjoy their company and take notice that they truly are wonderful creatures with many features and charateristics that may be somewhat aligned with the human being. I love animals, i have several, Golden Retriever, two Cockataels, a cat we found in a parking lot and numerous mice down in the basement. BUt... these guys do not posess a soul as we know it. They simply do not. We would like to think they do by years of having them as our best friends and companions but I am sorry to dissapoint you in that regard. We are special ,top of the food chain and created by someone ,some being far greater than any of our imaginations could ever concieve. THere is a God , a supreme force of intelligence that has created man and man alone deep done inside knows this. Each and everyone of us knows , we may try to reject it,fight it,cast it aside as an old wives tale or chock it up to evolution or any one of varied scientific schematics but in the end all roads lead back to the big question ? And no one can to this very day give a concrete ,plausiible answer to who created us.

A soul as we know it?
What is that? I don't know anything about this soul you talk about. Oh sure, I've heard the term used ad infinitum, but what exactly is it? How do we know we've got one? Can I touch it? Can I feel it? Can I injure it? Can I lose it? Where exactly is it? Is it anywhere in my body? Does it exist outside my body? How does it manifest?
Unless you can answer any of these with anything other than some sort of wishy washy - well god made it - statement, then you can't really say much at all about whether other animals have one.

Deep down inside you say I know about my soul. Sorry to disappoint, but deep down inside I know that I don't have one. I know that you don't have one. I know that no animals - including humans - have one.
I know that we're not special at all - other than that we're alive at this moment, but then all living things share this characteristic.

And I can't give you a concrete, plausible answer to who created us, because no one/thing did.

Aminnion, you can't touch, see, hear or smell your soul. You can't injure it. You most definitely have a soul. It is your essence. It is the fundamental force that drives you to be who you are today and who you will become in the future. You have a soul that when all your chips are down or when you are riding high atop the world it will guide you froom there. the fact that it can't be seen or felt or injured in any way is precisely a condition it has had for many lifetimes. You,in time, will accept that your inner companion that has been your most loyal advocate and opponent at times , the neverending commanding all encompassing helm to your lifes destinations is your soul. It will never give you up. The world might, your neighbors might but your soul will always be by your side.

All you are talking about throughout this is mental fortitude - what the poms might have called a 'stiff upper lip'. There'snothing particular to a 'soul' in any of this.
You can hide the fact under mystical sounding phrases like 'my soul is my essence' but we know that means absolutely jack. My essence, who am I, is entirely an amalgam of all the disparate bits of my consciousness. That 'aint the soul.
Actually, your description makes the soul sound a little like a bad fart - you just can't get rid of the damn thing.

first of all, nobody has proven we must have been created by an intelligent entity. i believe in god but that is it. faith. no proof.

but assuming god exists, why don't the animals have souls? says who?
"BUt... these guys do not posess a soul as we know it. They simply do not"
sorry but this has the same argumentative value of me saying i have a million dollars hidden in a tree stump somewhere in the amazon jungle.
We are special
what's so special about us? we are simply more evolve animals. that's it.
THere is a God , a supreme force of intelligence that has created man and man alone deep done inside knows this
didn't god created cats and dogs to? why don't they have souls as well?
all roads lead back to the big question
what roads where?

chock it up to evolution
why is evolution denying the existance of god again? why couldn't have god kick started evolution and then sit back and let the stew of life cook? instead of prodding it every second ?

I avoid the word "soul",though it has its uses from time to time. But, as you rightly pointed out , it cannot be proven.
I prefer the term "force of animation", although that too has its problems.
I'm liking the rest of your posts though, however BB is trying hard to express something.
As for animals not having a soul, I cant agree with BB. They clearly have a force of animation...
