Well the people were under a very repressive government for very many years. (but you know this) Not very tolerant of JW's 😉 or any other religious groups for that matter. I love the Russian people though glad that the iron curtain fell.

Well yes I guess your right. Not all of the values of the USA are good I know this. The idea of protecting freedoms is a good virtue. Protecting (when asked) from tyrants these are good virtues I don't think anyone would argue this. Wanting a free world is virtuous. The JW's would want to see a world under Jehovah would they not?
The idea of conquering the native Americans and treating them like savages was not virtuous no argument there. The English treating the Irish or vise versa the same no argument.

My point is I don't worship the flag. I respect the values behind it. I believe that if something conflicts with what God would have you do then don't do it. I respect a persons right to object to serving in war or carrying a weapon. On a certain level I believe people have the right to believe whatever they choose even if it is folly. People want to believe the earth is flat then so be it. I feel though they would be better served by knowing the truth.

Originally posted by menace71do you still need to pledge allegiance to the flag though? is that not a political posture that you are taking? this is strictly impossible for us, for we could not fight against say fellow witnesses in Russia, Korea, or anywhere for that matter, for we hold that they are our brothers. There is a Jehovahs witness congregation or a group of blackfoot native Americans. i would love to visit them. Also worldwide there are more than 10,000 congregations or groups dedicated to those who are deaf. They sign kingdom songs and give discourses in sign language, it is truly, by anyone's standards, utterly amazing!

dressing up is not wrong having fun is not wrong, is it? certainly not, for we know that God wants us to lead happy, purposeful and fulfilled lives. this is not the point, the point is that Halloween has , as its basis, pagan ideas that are inconsistent and contrary to the revealed word of God. Now you might argue, yes, but in its present day for ...[text shortened]... Christian, could i , in all honesty, engage in this celebration and maintain a clean conscience.
The kids dosen't care about its origin, they have fun *now*, and they can do that, because they are kids.
You play chess instead of praying, does that mean you are sinful? What does the bible say about playing chess? Nowhere does the bilble say that chess is good. Therefore it must be evil. Right? No! The same goes with tricking'n'treating!
Who do you think you are? The right hand of god? Step down from your high horses and be a human, for god's sakes. Let the kids have fun instead of forcing your christinan fundamentalism unto them. Let them be kids!

Originally posted by FabianFnasummm i dont know if you guys are aware, but the original question was, should christians celebrate Halloween. please pay attention, christians, that is persons following the teachings of Jesus Christ, of which a belief in God is an integral part. If those that are not Christian wish to celebrate Halloween, then what has that got to do with us? that is correct, absolutely nothing. Why can you not distinguish between these two possibilities? a Christian parent has a responsibility towards God, to provide and care for his family, that means not only providing materially but spiritually as well. If we were to adopt your supercilious attitude then we would be no different, but that is not the case, we are different, we lead our lives under different principles and have different values for we have subjected ourselves to Gods sovereignty and wish to do what is pleasing to him and wish to avoid anything which may bring our relationship into jeopardy.

so what youre saying is that halloween is a threat to the christian whatever, right?
