So in this country of free religion and freedom of speech, what would you do to me if I came to your pourch to tell you about God's Kingdom? Get you gun?

Yeah but nobody is as persecuted as poor Jehovah's Witnesses. You know why they've all got inverted nipples don't you? It's from getting poked in the chest while the other person says "Get the hell off my front porch!"
LOL 🙂 Man I think I've heard it all now.

I would invite you in 🙂 Or if you wanted we could go to the local coffee house. Bust out the chess board 😉 Then possibly the bible.

Ok did this persecution continue in later times ? I will admit there are some backward @$$ people in this country that think anyone different is a threat but I would like to think America has become better than this. I live on the Left Coast 😉 people are just more tolerant here I think than in certain other parts of the country. It's just hard for me to believe that JW's have been persecuted anymore than any other religious group. Humm.....What am I gonna do today? I know go persecute some JW's! Nahhh it just don't sound right it's not the first thing that comes to my mind.

perhaps then you should take a look at the cases that have went before the supreme court in recent times, or choose to ignore them as you have the others.

Actually in the past I've carried on a nice civil conversation with JW's that have come to my door. At least up until the point I tell them what my religion is and then invariably I have to tell them to "get the hell off my front porch" because somehow my religion (in this land of religous freedom) is not acceptable to a JW that happens to be on my property.

Well Robbie I can only account for myself. Our mutual uncivil discourse here on this forum notwithstanding I have been courteous, non-confrontational, and friendly towards JW's whenever I have encountered them. What is it that you want me to do about the rest? You prostelytize to me about God. I say bunk! You cry about persecution. Get over it.

i would not stand on your porch for a minute, there is far to many interesting and mannerly people to talk to and meet without me wasting my time with bozos whose sole contribution is a dumb caveman clichéd utterance, like 'get of my porch', with pleasure is the response!
Well, most JW's that come to visit me would be treated with hospitality, respect, and civility. You on the other hand, with your attitude, would wind up with a butt cheek full of rock salt as you scampered across my front yard.

So we've went from Halloween to Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me! Come on guys - every single religion whines about persecution (it keeps the rubes from noticing the bull they're being shoveled!) On the other hand, since almost all modern persecution is a political act, I have damn little sympathy for groups that exhort their followers to shun their civic responsibilities. If they can't be responsible for their own political obligations then why should I give a damn what the state does to them? They sure as heck wouldn't volunteer to protest the oppression of my group.

The sad thing about so many examples of the times JW's were chased out of towns, it was done by the local churches.

why dont you view it as an opportunity to receive some needed education Jack, rather than dismiss it it with banal utterances and whining over your perception of what makes a responsible person and what does not.
