It's happened again.
How many children have to die before the law is changed?
(more than 9, I bet)
Posession of a gun should equal 6 months in prison. Guns serve no useful purpose to society.
There will be no dramatic change in laws anytime soon.

Originally posted by StarrmanI have no problem with people owning firearms. I grew up surrounded by people who were hunters and did a lot of hunting myself. I learned how to properly and safely use a firearm. And I think that's the key.
There is no need for guns anywhere, they should be banned the world over and life imprisonment made the punishment for possession. They serve no purpose than to kill.
The reason I don't want to see guns taken away from everyone is this - I don't want to see people punished that have done nothing wrong. Plus I think banning firearms in the US would work just about as well as prohibition did.
I can understand the motivation for wanting to get rid of all guns though. I just don't think it'll work.
Originally posted by wibOh I agree, it'll never happen, I just dream of a world where guns are non-existant.

With no disrespect to people who own guns and know how to use them safely, I would also be happy if this world was gun free.
I have heard people frequently say "Guns don't kill people, people kill people". You really have to ask the question though, what are guns fundamentally designed for? Just shooting targets and clay pigeons?
It is conflicting to teach kids that killing is wrong, then say we all have a "right to bear arms".
Guns are designed for killing!
I still agree what is said that removing all guns in this world is no longer pragmatic. It is just that I would say it would make the world a so much better place.
Originally posted by lauseyYou are correct. Guns are designed to kill. Most handguns are designed specifically to kill human beings.

Large caliber handguns meet all the criteria for hunting and killing a human in an urban enviroment. They're small, lightweight, easy to conceal, relatively cheap to purchase, and easy to dispose of. Most pack enough power to kill just about any mammal from a chipmunk to a very large man.
So we could probably do without handguns. 🙂
Originally posted by wibI agree with you on that. but it isnt always the people that own trhe guns, its usually people who steal them that cause the problems. Such as children taking their parents guns or thieves braeking in and taking them. And there is really no way to stop them.............UNLESS YOU SHOOT THEM. So it all goes round in a viscious circle.

Remove all the guns.
People can still make bombs.
People can make weapons from nearly anything.
Removing hatred and mental illness is a much tougher task.
Yes, fully agree with that. My point was being that "the right to bear arms" is a government sanctioned law (in the US).
I was just meaning that it is conflicting to teach people not to be violent and at the same time justify the public to own guns.
You can't really stop some mad people to develop bombs with household chemicals, but making it illegal for guns to be so easily accessible to the public would make it easier to teach people not to have so much of a violent mentality.
Originally posted by lauseyHow do you teach people not to have a violent mentality? The people that would most benefit most from that are not listening. A person that will commit murder will find a way, rest assured.
