@spruce112358 saidYou have upended your post. You deter off into Nature, Moraliity, and maybe for good measure you could bring in Marauder's 'natural law.' What a conundrum of concepts. You really need another thread on that to delve into the application of, say, morality, when people are foraging for food. The moral thing to do is to give Sue the coconuts, and to pay off the debt that she has with Lundos.
You say it is "moral" to let Sonhouse starve because you foraged longer and better (and luckier!) than he did. And according to the morality of Nature "red of tooth and claw" that's true. Whatever animal forages better survives. We all know that is the Law of the Jungle.
But The Law of the Jungle also says that it is fine if Sonhouse kills you and take your coconuts ...[text shortened]... keep him alive.
Because we are a Civilized Society. You may not like it, but it is what it is. 😆
You might start with that very premise, maybe bringing in my own 'right to privacy' as she is knocking on my door. You see,, you do not mention my 'right to privacy'.....yet another right. I cite this to point out the conflict of 'rights' you silly goose. So you and I are chatting, and you said above that 'Rights collide and we have to resolve that." Correct to a point, but if you heap morality, nature, etc on top of rights, you have really got a long thread ahead of you.
PS:: Civilization?? Yes, it would be a civil society as I see it, I go hunt coconuts, Sonhouse does not, he beats on my door to rob me of my fruits and labors. You are right, he would bring down civilizatoin. You are telling me to savve civilization by putting my coconuts ouot on my front steps.
@spruce112358 saidBt do you think Joey Smith would agree with your philosophy as we have discussed?
Young animals/people are born with The Law of the Jungle in their heads and learn the Laws of Civilization. 😆
@AverageJoe1 saidI almost mmissed your saying this....

We are lost at sea in a lifeboat and one guy happens to be seated on the water keg.
It would not be HIS water if he were seated on a life-boat water keg. It might however be HIS if he owned it and brought it on board. You did not say from whence it came.
In the event of lost at sea, we have resolved that everything in that boat is to be split up.
But, I were sitting on the rooftop of my house, it is MY house.
You see the difference. Mamdani is trying to tell me that I. have to....what, .....share my house? Or not have one? Is it my house, or is it not my house? Was the water my water, or that of everyone in a lifeboat under the very same circumstance?
@AverageJoe1 saidWhy do you and everyone you like have rights while everyone you don't like don't have rights?

Care to explain that one?
@AverageJoe1 saidWhoTF is Joey Smith?
Bt do you think Joey Smith would agree with your philosophy as we have discussed?
@AverageJoe1 saidWhy not?
Just a curious observation:
Good bad or indifferent, you suggest that a person has a right to the property, or effectively, the life of, another person.
If you gave these thoughts to a young person who has not been tainted by either liberal or conservative theory, just totally innocent with no formed opinion, do you think it would fly with them?
You people indoctrinate children across the south with your own brand of anti-social policies every day. And forget about charter schools, which are famous as indoctrination centers for the anti-social Republican Party.
@Suzianne saidIt is a given that everyone, like you, like me, have the same rights.
Why do you and everyone you like have rights while everyone you don't like don't have rights?
Care to explain that one?
Please then re-phrase your comment that 'everyone (I) don't like do not have rights." I don't understand this comment.
@Suzianne saidI wrote a query to Spruce above, here it is. He did not answer it yet.

@Suzianne saidOops, see that you already saw it and attempted to answer, but did not answer., other than comment about charter schools, etc.
Why not?

No school was part of this question. If Spruce were sitting on the family porch and espoused his philosophy to a nephew, we will call him Joey, would the boy agree with him? It is Spruce's philosophy that people have rights which affect the property and lives of other people, as we discussed above.
You say that 'we people indoctrinate', but you see, my question makes it clear that this particular young person is NOT indoctrinated, he has no knowledge of llib or conservatives philosophies.
@AverageJoe1 saidAnd YOU cannot even acknowledge Charter schools ARE just what she said.

They are DESIGNED to not allow poor folks to get educated so only the rich will have educations.
You really think that is a great way to run a civilization?
OK FOLKS we have this plan that will run the education just like it was a thousand years ago, totally uneducated sub human slaves stuck forever under the thumbs of the educated elite.
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU RICH FOLKS IN THE AUDIENCE? Don't you rich folks want to be the ones in charge FOREVER?
JOIN US IN OUR QUEST FOR THE WAY THINGS SHOULD BE.
@sonhouse saidMaybe you Join in this question, written to Spruce, asking if an 'UN-indoctrinated' young person would agree with his philosophy, as he has set out above. Neither he nor I introduced Charter Schools. Don't know where that came from.

@AverageJoe1 saidWe don't have one set of rights in a lifeboat and a different set of rights sitting in the den of a house on the shores of Lake Rabun. All our rights are the same everywhere, always. 😆

We share in the lifeboat as needed to protect the right to go on living. We share in the lakehouse den as needed to protect the right to go on living.
Now, presumably, you don't really want to invite all of us starving people into your house to have a drink at your bar and kip down on your floor. Luckily there is a solution: stop taking all your stupid tax breaks, and there will be more than enough money in the public kitty to take care of emergencies and people who cannot do for themselves.
You don't need to lift a finger! Rights are protected in a civil society, and you don't get inconvenienced! Lucky you! So nice to be rich instead of needing help! 😆

The right to privacy is right there with the right to property - subservient to the right to go on living.
Imagine someone said, "I'm dying out here!" and you said, "I need my privacy!" Absurd, isn't it? 😆
