Most white coal miners may have been gullible enough to vote for ('their voice' ) Donald Trump.

Apparently their jobs are more important than their lives. And not giving a crap how much coal adds to Earth's pollution levels. China has figured that one out and is wholesale closing coal mines.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-energy-coal-idUSKCN0VV0U5

"China to close more than 1,000 coal mines in 2016: energy bureau."

"China is the world's top coal consumer but demand has been on the wane as economic
growth slows and the country shifts away from fossil fuels in order to curb pollution. ...
China has a total of 10,760 mines, and 5,600 of them will eventually be required to close
under a policy banning those with an annual output capacity of less than 90,000 tonnes,
the China National Coal Association has estimated."

    http://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2017/03/14/519621699/as-chinas-coal-mines-close-miners-are-becoming-bolder-in-voicing-demands

"As China's Coal Mines Close, Miners Are Becoming Bolder In Voicing Demands"

"The 21st century's Communist leaders are transforming China's economy into a paradise
for consumers, and have ordered inefficient, state-run mines like this one to close.

A dozen workers from the mine fill a tiny room decorated only with a portrait of Chairman Mao.
They're big, brawny men, and working in their hometown mine is the only job they've ever known.
All are employees of Longhua Harbin Coal Company, a subsidiary of China National Coal Group,
the third-largest coal mining company in the world. Longhua has told the mine's 4,000 workers they'll
all be out of a job by year's end. The mine will be shut, wiping out the town's main source of revenue.
Worker Wang Fuxiang says soon they'll become the poorest residents of an already-poor region."

"According to information brochures Longhua distributed to workers, the company is
offering severance equivalent to $500 times the number of years they've worked.
No more pension, no health insurance; just a lump sum of money.
Another worker, 40-year-old Wu Songtao, doesn't know where he's going to find work now."

""This is a dangerous job," he says. "Accidents have killed dozens of workers here.
We've risked our lives for this mine and we earn just enough to afford cabbage.
Now we won't be able to take care of our parents or children.""

That's still no excuse for cutting into their health and safety.

Ever since Trump brought up this stupid topic, I've said that the government should take this handful of surviving ex-coal miners and give them two things: free healthcare for the rest of their lives and free tuition at a university near them, so they can earn a degree and move on to much better jobs.

But a Republican can't do this because, you know, free healthcare and free education, ooooooooh, bad. I guess he figures he can 'help them out' by giving them their crappy jobs back, instead of lifting them up to better lives. With friends like that, who needs enemies? Coal is dead, dead. And this lie about 'clean coal'... what a crock. It's just like the lie about 'safe cigarettes'. If you want to actually help these people, instead of just SAYing you'll help them, give them a better life, not just the same old job that won't be there in five years.

If Trumpf has his way, we will have many more coal mines open in 5 years. He is a president without a country now.

Stating the bloody obvious there, then.

However, just because people are as thick as mud in a donkey's ear, doesn't mean we shouldn't take care of their health and safety.

Just because Joe moron votes for the nazis, doesn't mean we shouldn't protect him from the showers.

It's morality at it's finest: vulnerable and loving.

Yes, people will abuse it, but once it's their children we're protecting, they should understand.

And if they don't, we'll stand up for them anyway.

Welcome to my socialist nightmare. Constantly turning the other cheek to Christians who just want to mow you down.

The irony is bitter. But, you have to love the imbeciles anyway.

Shav, I'm with you, man. And yes, I'm a Christian, too, but that doesn't mean I had half my brain sucked out at the door, like all these pseudo-Christian Republicans.

"'He's anti-left, anti-PC, anti-stupid': Trump supporters in their own words."

"Sylvia Allen, 70, former property saleswoman, now an Arizona state senator:
"Trump is breath of fresh air. He’s totally not a political person. He’s a businessman:
he’s anti-left, he’s anti-PC, he’s anti-stupid. He just wants to go in and make the best
deal for Americans that he can. Of course he’s not racist. ... I support a border wall."

Here's what the only non-white person (out of nine) interviewed said:
    "Isaac Powell, 19, student.
Powell’s mother is Japanese and his father is African American."

"I voted for him because of diversity. He actually practices diversity unlike liberals, who don’t practice diversity.
Obama had this whole country thinking about skin colour. Trump doesn’t look at skin colour."

Not much to be aware of seeing when almost everyone around is white.

"Both sides in Charlottesville are bad. He’s absolutely right. The Antifa [anti-fascist groups] are
the equivalent of the KKK and both were responsible. Antifa is the KKK, just without the history.
    The Confederate flag is not racist: only 5% of slave owners had the Confederate flag;
the US flag is more racist. Do you think I’d be that stupid to vote for an actual racist to be in office?"

Yes, I think that Isaac Powell is very stupid. What kind of 'history' did he learn in Arizona?

"Thirty other countries have a wall to protect against illegal immigration but is the only one that gets called racist."

Can Isaac Powell name the 'thirty other countries' that have built walls against illegal immigration?

"My dad and family are all Democratic except my grandfather. They’ve tried to change
my mind [about Donald Trump] but it doesn’t make sense to me what they say."
    --Isaac Powell
